THE STORY OF MUNGALLI FALLS
The principal Mr. Peter Trout is a man of vision.
Some twenty years ago, Mr. Trout put in place a plan to acquire an aggregation of property, which would one day be available to be developed in to an Integrated Resort Site of worldwide standard. To achieve this, his search for the correct site commenced. He was aware of the fact that the location of the property he was searching for had to be unique. His prolonged search brought him to Mungalli falls on the hinterland of Cairns North Queensland Australia on the Great Barrier Reef, which is one of the wonders of the world. This site today is recognized by the State, local, and federal governments, as a preferred site for development, thanks to Peter efforts.
Peter selected this site for many reasons; firstly he acquired the lot of land at a premium at that time of purchase, as his vision could see this as the core of the development in time to come. The first Lot had features such as the only large free hold water fall in the state of Queensland Australia. It was situated in a year round cool tempered climate. due to its elevation in a tropical zoning, the site was in a area which would be totally unpolluted and he knew it would remain this way for all times in the future. The site was to be set in a crystal clean year round atmosphere being in a rainforest setting, and perched in a misty mountain wilderness. Peter was aware that he had to acquire all surrounding and adjoining properties if his plan was to be achieved. Finally he acquired a total of 380 acres of free hold land, giving him more then sufficient land going forward.

“The deal we secured from the local government was a rezoning approval, which is contained within the Eacham Shire Planning Scheme. The documents can be viewed and downloaded from the Tableland Regional Council website at http://www.trc.qld.gov.au/building-planning/development-assessment/planning-schemes-current/
This is a very large document, but the important sections are the tables of assessment (section 2.1.3) and codes (The Misty Mountains Tourist Development Area Code), which refers to the Misty Mountains Tourism Development Area.”
Eacham Shire
Notice is given that on 12 May 2010 TRC adopted an amendment to the 2006 Planning Scheme for the former Eacham Shire Council. The amendment only applies to that part of the planning scheme area described as Lot 267 on NR8023 and situated at 234 Junction Road, Mungalli.

A BUSSINESS IS BEING CONDUCTED AT MUNGALLI FALLS IN THE FORM OF A OUT DOOR EDUCATION CENTRE, THIS IS A REGISTERED TRANING ORGANISATION
There is a multitude of ways to experience Mungalli Falls on school camps. The management always works in with budgets, learning needs, camp themes (leadership) and time frames. It is the intention to make camps easier for teachers and principals to consider. Team work is a way of life, and it’s something you can feel from your first day at Mungalli Falls Outdoor Education Centre. As young leaders our shared vision is on an ecologically sustainable future, a future where all individuals live from an activated environmental consciousness, respecting the natural systems to which we belong.
The Out Door Education Centre is to be sold with the property to gather with a bus company and a large quantity of plant and equipment. There will be three (3) contracts involved in the overall sale, the five lots of land, the business and the bus company and include all licences, permits in connection with the property and the associated business.
ACTIVITES
There are 23 activities included for students in their stay at Mungalli Falls.
ACCOMMODATION
There are 8 Cabins which hold 32 people, 6 rainforest lodges with a capacity of 240 people.
WATER FALL CAFE
Perched literally right on top of Mungalli Falls is the water fall cafe. This is a 350 seat restaurant that is fully licensed. It caters mainly for students and tourist groups, with day visitors for lunch. As all staff will want to retain their positions, we highly recommend that the present staff be retained. The owner will arrange for a senior manager with the required skills to run the business, as he will be aiming for a smooth transition with the business on the settlement of a sale.
(A) In closing it should be noted that the site has its own registered helicopter landing pad, this is a permanent pad.
(B) Migration. The opportunity exists for Business and other long term visas to permanent visas, for investors and purchasers within the development.
(C) If the purchasers take advantage of the opportunity to move to an integrated resort site to utilize the whole of the property (380acers), consideration could be given to advance the development beyond the existing approvals. To include such things as a 18 hole golf course to a world standard, a rainforest research centre in conjunction with an Australian University, polo grounds, covered equestrian area, gymnasium, orchards, students accommodations, a rainforest campus for university, a second hotel with many more associated facilities to include a large restaurant with the natural water feature and rainforest cabins.
